Some of our Practice Policies
PRESCRIPTIONS
Just a reminder to patients and for information for new patients Littletown Family Medical Practice may work slightly different from other local practices – we DO NOT accept prescription requests from pharmacies under any circumstances and we have not done for a number of years. The reason for this is patient safety and trying to help save money for the NHS by preventing over ordering of unnecessary medication.
You can order medication either via the NHS App, email prescription.ali@nhs.net , calling into the surgery or we will accept prescription request over the telephone between 10.00am and 2.00pm – please ensure that you have a list of the medication you wish to order as staff need the names of medicines to process the prescription request.
APPOINTMENTS
Please be aware patients requesting an urgent/on the day appointment do not have the right to choose which GP/clinician they wish to see, if you wish to see a specific clinician you will need to pre book an appointment in advance.
SICK NOTES
A sicknote is not required for the first 7 days of any absence, you should do a self certification which can be downloaded from Gov.uk – or your employer may have their own company forms for you to complete. A sick note is a legal document and will not be given during the first 7 days of an absence – if your employer is insisting on a doctors note there is a charge for a private letter of £30.00.
Repeat sick notes are requested by patients and the Clinician will send via text message, if a paper note is required you must state this at the time of request.
DATA PROTECTION
Please be aware staff maintain confidentiality of all patients. Anybody wishing to speak on behalf of a patient staff will need to get consent from the patient.
TRAVEL VACCINATIONS
We need a minimum of 6 weeks notice for requesting travel vaccines.
DNA’s
Patients that frequently DO NOT ATTEND their appointments may be removed from the practice list, DNA’s cost the NHS millions of pounds. If you can not attend your appointment please contact the practice to inform us, we need at least 2 hours notice of an appointment cancellation to enable us to offer the appointment to somebody else.
STAFF ABUSE
We will not tolerate abuse of any kind towards any member of staff, any abuse will be reported and the patient will be removed from the list with immediate effect.

PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
